The VDI CDI has a Gen 1 and Gen 2...the Gen 2 is supposed to be new and improved (more waterproof) over the Gen 1 units.

While the Dyna CDI never officially had a Gen 1 or Gen 2, the first batch Dyna CDIs they made (about 3 years ago) were plagued with kickback problems and they have since improved (but not totally eliminated) this issue in all other batches.

I've read (but don't know for sure) that the Dyna CDI is not as good on the BF750/BF650i as it is on the P650/BF650sra/P700...specifically, the Dyna often causes the BF750/650i motor to have a slight miss in the motor and re-jetting supposedly does not solve this slight miss. Because of that, some BF750/650i owners have bought the VDI. However, I'm not personally convinced that VDI has made their Gen 2 units 100% bug-free just yet...seems that some folks with the Gen 2 were getting bad maps, which had to be reprogrammed to correct.

Good luck with your choice and happy trails...

bought the copperhead gen 2 for my 750 and it came with a bad map. they sent me a email but didn't recieve
intill after driving it. but they were nice enough to send me 60 dollars of free hardware, so now i can continue to improve the maps if i build the bike up
