Default If given the chance.............

Being in the market for a 4x4 quad and having narrowed the choice down to a Prairie 300 or 360. What are the recommendations. I know that the 360 is a bit more sophisticated with it's 21WD mode and the selectable differential up front as well as the CVT. Is the CVT really that much more advanced, can I put like black spring and stuff on the 300? I'm only gonna take this out when we're snown in, I've got the Lakota for horseplayin' and the Mojave fer racin'. Recommendations? And does the 300 have an open or limited slip up front? Thanks

Take a look at the thread 05 360 top end performance that is going on right now. Info should answer a lot of your questions. Front end on the 360 is not limited slip.

What do you mean the front end of the 360 prairie is not limited slip???? My brother has one and it is just like the 650prairie, 650bf, 700 prairie & 750bf. It is limited slip with a progressive front differential locker.

That's one of my big draws to the 360 over the 300, that trigger lock front differential. I have considered bigger, but I don't ned a powerhouse, I don't have a wholelotta land..........

Hmm. I don't have my manual here but as I recall the front end is a straight differential with the manual locker on it. I could be wrong on this. Anyone know for sure? If they are limited slip then something has been wrong with mine since new as one front wheel will spin given the chance till you pull in the locker.

only time i ever raced a 300 i smoked him. No problem. The 360 is a great bike and i love mine. No power house but has a good low end punch and will do any trails. I can go further then allot of my buddies with that locker in rough terrain. Im due for another valve adjustment though. 300 hour light just came on so that all thats been wrong so far. Great bike.

It is a limited slip with a progressive locker. If it has a straight differential, you would not need a manual locker. My brothers will spin one tire in the front if it is in the air or doesn't have as much traction as the other. Then he pulls the manual locker and both tires lock in and spin at the same rate. Go to the kawasaki web site and read abou the 360 prairie 4x4. It clearly says it there.
