carb tuning - kfx400
I think my kfx is burning too much fuel. Maybe its just me, but I'm always the first to run out. I was thinking that if I drop the needle down one groove ( it is on 3, I would be putting it on 2 ), which will allow less fuel into the carb, that this might fix the problem. What do you think? This adjustment will be making the bike run leaner, so would I leave the mainjet where it is or change it as well? It is a dynojet 130 main.

This is just my opinion but you need to have your carb jetted for your motor to run the best. If you lean it out you'll build more heat and heat and friction are the main reasons for premature engine failure. Here's another idea why not gear up?? You could gear your machine up and there by not turn as many rpms and save fuel that way. It's just an idea. I would seriously reconsider leaning out your bike just to save fuel. That seems like the wrong way to go to me but hey to each their own.

what kind of fuel are you running?
You do not want to lean out these new engines. They are already running as lean as possible from the factory to keep emissions low..... any more and you are risking problems....
Are you running 91 octane or higher? Or lower? Regular would burn up faster than super in any engine with that much compression.
