Do yourself a big favor and go with a 300ex unless you want to work on your quad rather than ride it.

Hey Trail,

I have owned a Mojave since 1988 and I have to disagree with the last post in reguard to reliability I have had ZERO problems with my bike so I dont think reliability is an issue. My bike is stock and it may respond differently with mods on it but both the 300ex and Mojave are reliable in their stock form. It may come down to dollar and cents as there is much disagreement between riders of each quad saying theirs is better. My advice would be to drive them both and see what feels good. There are pros and cons to each bike hopefully other folks can give you more advice so you can make an educated decision but you still need to ride them both.

Later,

Triston

That's good advice from TDBRPH. Ride both, make sure both are stock and in good condition, and then choose based on what you like and get for the money. As for me I prefer the mojave. I now own 3 of them and they have been VERY reliable, more so than my friends 300 EXs. I would never have gotten to 3 if they were junk. But both are good, you decide what suits you.

I also disagree with the post about the mojave. We just kick and go all the time with our maojve. Just change the oil and filter every once in a while. The mojave with also run better longer on hot days while the 300ex will get so hot and start to loose power. I have a 91 250x also and have noticed this while riding for long periods of time.

If I had paid a lot more just to own a Honda, I too would swear there is nothing as good.

Spend some time in the Honda forums and you may soon begin to change your mind.

I had the same decision a 300ex or mojave. I think both are very good, and both are extremely reliable. I think both handle and ride well. In the end it came down to the price difference. I would save about $800 buying the mojave, plus it is a dual overhead cam whereas the ex is a single overhead cam. You can buy aftermarket cams for the mojave, the multiple valves let it flow much better and there is higher potential for performance. $800 buys alot of horsepower goodies, and the 300ex wont have a chance. In the end I would ride both and decide for yourself...

Go with the Mojave. As long as it fits you then you will be fine and save $800. I plan to buy a Mojave this spring and prefer it to the 300ex since I used to own a 250x. My brother had a Mojave at the time I had the 250x and the Mojave was more fun to ride, especally with the power since it liked to rev.
