Break in question.

What do you guys think? Since I have bought my KFX, I have ran one whole gas tank through the engine. Havent given it over 1/2 throttle really yet. Wanted to get the engine broke in. Well im going to an ATV park around here this weekend and I know there are going to be some races going on. I was planning on changing my oil and going to this ATV to give it some hell. Do you think the engine has set enough for me to do this? Usuallly it would be two gas tanks or 10 hours of operation.

I would run atleast another tank through it constantly changing rpms. Do not mean lugging bike!! Like riding third gear 400 rpms, but working the gears up and down through the rpms half throttle three quarter throttle more times, then change oil and give er hell!! Rember break in is the most important part of a quads life!! deciding to race after one tank , maybe down the rode will bite you in *** for your hurry!! atleast one more tank! then line her up!!

What about running 89 Octane? I have a compression ratio of 11.3:1. Would it be alright to run 89? Im not looking for a performance gain, just wondering if it would be better? Thanks for replies.

Change the oil, and then take it to the track and RIDE IT! You need to put a load on that engine to break it in right, both on and off throttle. The track is a great place to do that. About the only thing I would restrain from is holding her at WOT for more than a few seconds.

Thanks. About the Clutch cover. I can easily replace this myself cant I? I hate dealerships and dont trust a single one.
