Default new kfx400 air box question...

Well i just got my bike back from the dealer and was looking... the air box has a niple on it at the bottom. It is clear with red fluid in it. Open the air box and it has what looks like car tranny fluid in it. up to the bottom of the air filter

History: Ran one tank put skid plates on, had the bike up on the grab bar for an hour. rode the seccond tank then took it in for service (recall cover) and when i got home noticed it.

Is it just oil for the air filter? is break in oil red? Let me know what i dont know. Thanks Jordan

Filter oil can be red in color, so it may have been overoiled and dripped off the filter? Did you drain it out at all, that is what the nipple is for. There shouldn't be anything in the airbox, so that should be removed anyway.

there's alot of fluid. More than just the nipple and i havent ridden the bike since i noticed waiting on a reply so i will drain it. I figured that wasn't right. I thought the nipple was for when or if you go through water to see if you got any in the intake.

Thanks jordan

They over oiled the filter. If you get the filter to wet it will drain alot of it down to that nipple.

Yes, that to jray. Eventually you are GOING to get crud in the intake, so that doubles as a drain and an extra little trap to keep some of the dirt particles from bouncing around up in the airbox. It is a good idea to clean that out after every ride.
