Engine Oil question?
As for the gear oil, i use 80-90 weight Amsoil Synthetic, and love it.
As for the oil filter, i also use Amsoil, for a 650Vtwin, its eao103 i believe. I know the numbers are 103 in the end, thats the important part. If you use amsoil oil, and their filter, you gain an advantage to having extended drain intervals. I know a guy who has over 3,000 miles on his same oil and filter and says it still looks fairly clean. I would NOT reccomend this. But i would bet you can get 1,000 miles easy out of the change. Its a little spendier, at about 40 bucks delivered, but well worth the quality of the filter and oil. I have Amsoil Synthetic in my front, and rear differential, and my regular oil, and my grease for my winch is amsoil grease. My honda fourtrax runs like new, and its 14yrs old, running amsoil. You wouldnt believe how clean the motor is. I will use amsoil over anything else, and am a firm believer in its quality

Engine Oil question?
You should look at kawieriders .com to see what filters you can use with that motor. I used to use a car filter on my V-Force because it was the same size screw on filter has a 93 Mazda MX-6. Also you can use whatever weight oil the book recommends (10W-40 probably). I used to use regular 10W-40 auto oil in my V-force. You don't have to use motorcycle oil as it's not a wet clutch system, you oil is just going to the engine anyway.
