BF750 noises
#11
...I'm interested. I've gone nuts with it...and after it's hot it sounds worse. I was starting to conclude a rod noise myself, it seems right behind pull start cover when and idling. And could hear/feel it on belt cover too. Are you saying cam chains are worn out already....

Using a mechanic's stethscope exactly locate where the noise is coming from. According to your own words, it sounds like it could be either the rod bearing (bottom of the engine) or the cam chains (there are 2 types, intermediate and upper) up mid/top of the engine. If your engine ingested dirt/water, you cam chains will wear out real fast and the auto-cam chain tensioner can be maxed out in which case the chains have to be replaced. The dirt/water in the engine can also damage the lower rod bearings as well. Correct diagnosis is the first step you should take.

just find all the bolts that hold the tensioners in i think there is two on left side pullstart side.pull the springs or stretch them.and see what that does for noise did good for me.i really dont know what the long term fix is,i guess new chains.i was told by so called prof.that it was my clutch so i took it off same noises.try this.
