Bought a 2007 KFX700
#1
Well, I did it. I picked up a 2007 KFX700 in green. This quad rides a lot different than my Bomb 800, but I like it.
I didn't ride it that much today, just around the block. After riding it, it smelled like something was burning, is this just the belt setting in or should I be worried? I don't remember my Bomb smelling like this.
I plan on taking it out on the trails Saturday, I hope that the smell goes away.
Thanks all for our time.
Sincerely,
Jeff

Fastfatboy,
Thanks for your reply. I figured it was something burning off or soumeting setting in place. I plan on riding for a few hours tomorrow, I hope it goes away.
Thanks again.

The smell you noticed is the black paint burning off at the head pipes and/or the anti-rust grease "cosmoline" or "Paraffin" that are used to protect new cars during shipment in old days now shrink wraps are used. On Kawi quads these chemicals are sprayed on engine surfaces to provide a barrier to the elements.

A little tip.
The #1 part that is replaced on a KFX700 is the tail light. That should tell you something!!!!
My quad smelled the same. After a full ride of a few full throttle runs took care of that!!!!
