Default Large clunking noise

what seems to be the problem is a large clunking noise is coming from the rear or center of the bike, hard to tell. So what I was thinking, it might be is the drive shaft b/c even when I turn the bike off and push it while its in neutral it will either lock up or make a clunking noise. Is it possible that the drive shaft could have caused the belt to snap off like it did? Do you think it could be something else? and is this a big job if it is the drive shaft $$$?

Have you checked the joints for slack?? It could be your universal is worn out and making the sound. Also I would pull the belt over off and check both front and rear drive pullies for belt fragments. I've gone through a few belts and thought I had all of the pieces of the old belt out but later hear an awful noise and have a small piece or two of belt left inside the housing. Also if the belt shredded then some cord from the belt could be what's trying to lock it up. I don't know if any of this is your problem but it's just a thought.

Check your swing arm bearings.
