Default dial a jet

Does the 650 Vtwin come rich or lean from the dealer normally? I added dial-a-jet, and if anyone else with a 650 bf or v2 has it, did you have to rejet the carb also? Thanks

Default dial a jet

v2rider,
That is one thing I should have told you. You do need to rejet the carbs a size or 2 smaller than your current settup in order for them to work correctly, since they run on a vacuum system. My prairie was rich from the factory, so down-jetting was a necessity. If you are currently jetted correctly, than expect to jet down 1-2 jets on the front and rear carbs, most people say 2 sizes. The dial-a-jets will only add fuel to the mix when needed, typically at wide open throttle. The bigger the hole selection in the dial-a-jet, the more gas you make available to the engine. I believe they are labeled on the white plastic dial as leaner and richer, but it is in small writing if it is there.

Default dial a jet

Hi,I recently added the Dial a jet on my KFX 700.It was a long process of running it up through the air box and into the snorkles on the carbs.I have 12 holes in my air box and two TPI valves from Thunder products.I had to order a jet kit with larger main jets. You can check if you are running lean by leaving the choke open. When it is closed if it backfires you are running lean if you choke it and it clears up you need to run a larger main jet.I am leaving my dial a jet in the center position then once I have my main jets dialed in I can click the dial a jet up or down when it gets cold or hot.I will let you knwo later today how it works as it is cold here now.I can also open and close my tpi valves.
