05 KFX 400

Ok, so heres the story:
A friend of my family bout a 2005 kfx 400 a while ago. This thing has been nothing but problems. We have rebuilt the engine twice and now it is being rebuilt for a 3rd time. The cam chain tensioner is always breaking and screwing up everything. we have had the dealer put in the tensioner twice and it has still broken. The owner is not the brightest person in the world and he has waited till now to get the clutch cover recall taken care of. Could that have caused most of these engine problems? This quad is completely stock and only has about 15 hours of actual riding time on it. What do you guys think?

Whatever the problem is, it is rare.....
I have not heard of very many engine problems with the z400 plant. And the fact that everything was replaced more than once but still keeps breaking makes me suspicious that the problem may be user related..........

yea, thats what I thought to, but the last time we had the dealer re build the engine, we started it up and let it warm up for about 10 to 15 minutes, then rode it around my yard a couple of times (not even close to an acre) and boom, theres smoke pouring out of the exhaust and a lot of clanging in the engine. So I dont know what is going on.

I'm with ss97 on this one.
If it did it right after the dealer fixed it, they should warranty it. Might even want to call Kawi or Suzuki and let them know the problem.
If it's had 3 rebuilds, it's time for a new motor instead of fixing the old one.
