they messed up the 450!!!
They screwed up the kfx450r, i thought it was supposed to be an mx machine!
Its just messed up, it has an aluminum frame, and it is still 364 lbs, that is 14lbs more than the yfz! i was expecting it to be at least 345lbs or less and also
-its narrow, only 46"
-has reverse
-has only 8.5inch travel on front
Or was this supposed to be a trail machine????
They messed up big time on this one

Kawasaki made the KFX450 to be a race machine that could still be used by the trail rider........
Most serious MX racers are going to replace the A-arms and suspension anyway, and Kawasaki knows that........ this way they can sell it to trail riders too.
The LTR450 is unique because it is an MX racer out of the box. But Suzuki still sells the z400 to fill the gap back to the trail riders.
Kawasaki was just trying to appeal to a wider base since the only other sport machine they have is the KFX700 and that machine only appeals to a certain type of rider.
I think it was a smart move by Kawasaki to make it more trail friendly, but still good enough that I'm sure you will see some on the MX and XC pro circuits.

I think Kawie built this to focus more on GNCC this year, with most of the upper class mx guys willing to spend big $$ to upgrade to a wider, longtravel machine anyways. Time will tell, we should start seeing mag shootouts soon, but I think the new Kawie could be a big hit with the weekend/recreational riders. That is where all the sales come from anyways. Also, this is a totally different frame and engine. It isn't just a beefed up Z quad.

Kawasaki hit the spot with the 450. I think that yamaha, suzuki, and honda should have a reverse gear in their 450s.
Who could ask for more? Fuel injection, light weight, 450 class engine, electric start and reverse. I bet it will be right on par with the other brands as far as performance.
