Default KFX400 Air Box Lid / Jetting?

Hello,

I have a 2006 KFX 400. I would like to replace the stock air box lid with a K&N XTreme Powerlid and a K&N replacement air filter. What jets, if any, do I need to replace. By doing these modifications, what will I gain (horsepower, acceleration, torque, etc)?

Thanks,

Garrett

get a jet kit .. you'll replace a needle and the main jet... you'll see a gain in throttle response and more h.p

Garr79

I have the same bike and I went with the K&N airfilter and powerlid. First I tell ya drop the lid its nothing. I bought mine and got my bike all jetted and took it out to the dunes and after a few hours of riding a friend of mine laughed when I said I bought it. They all run topless...They said " Kewl kids run topless babygirl "

Here is what I suggest

You have to buy a jet kit. Usually with those filters and so forth you want to jet with a 165 main and not mess with the pilot jets. Rip off that snorkel and airbox lid and put em with the spare parts pile you dont want or need em. Make sure your running the cover on your airfilter and call it a day. I have yet to put my lid back on and its awesome. With that airfilter and cover nothings getting to your carb so its all good...

FMF makes a jetkit from motosport. Good luck

Oh and no it does not come with a jet kit. It does come with a jet but you need the needle. So pick up a needle or a jet kit.

I ride in dusty areas (dirt, sand, mud). If i run with the airbox lid off, wont that hurt the bike?

if your going to run it with the lid off, definitely buy a cover for the filter. i run my z400 in dusty conditions and havnt had any problems. but i wouldnt recommend running it with the lid off and no cover over the filter.

If I'm not mistaken, the K&N lid is also waterproof. That is a big plus if you think you're gonna run into any water.

But then again, if you're riding in the desert, well, they call it a desert for a reason.
