That's not fully true fastfatboy. Kawai's 450r is self adjusting to a certain degree. You can pull the airbox lid off and it will adjust for that extra air it's sucking in. The ecu will adjust as far as possible until it reaches it's limit and then that's when you need to start messing with the map with whatever's available. I haven't heard the actualy specs on how indepth their going with the 08's FI and since it's not a sport like the 450r it might not adjust at all but I'd say it'll adjust for some small changes otherwise if you blew a hole in your box the thing would run begin running leaner and cause damage.

It will be about the same as the other systems that are currently out. It will adjust for air temp. to help out for cold weather starts and thats about it. Any serious elevation or other intake or exhaust mods and you will have to change the fuel curve. It may run ok with the box lid off and baffle removed but it put on a dyno or an O2 sensor it will be lean. The industry loves to hype new products, as well they should, but the FI systems currently being used are very limited when it comes to self management. Are they better than carbs.? I think so. But there is a huge difference between them and modern automobile technology.

Shouldn't need a dyno to see if it's running leaner, either check the plug or just watch the temp. And it's not just the air temp it runs off, it'll also run off the intake air pressure sensor which will change with the lid off actually pretty noticeablly and the ecu will have to adjust for it so it will adjust upto a point. Remove the entire box and toss a KN and yeah you're gonna have some problems running lean.

It might be better to compare them once the new bf750efi is actually out and people have put a few miles on them. I too hope the handling is better than my 2005 bf750. As far as the HP is concerned, the local dealer said it will be about 2.5 hp more on average. But, then again there are all kinds of numbers out there for HP ratings. Just have to wait and see.
