Default 2003 Prarie 650

I admit I have 3710 miles on it and have kept up on all servicing myself. Took it to Extreme Kawasaki in Claysville, PA. last year for the same problem. They fixed it and now it's doin' the same thing. I changed the oil and filter yesterday and it quieted down some but it makes me wonder.... What's causing it? It's coming from the area just in front of the converter cover on the right side of the bike. Any suggestions?

If the noise is prominent when idling, it would be due to too much clearance between the drive converter and the spider flange. The shims (also called shoes or buttons) are worn out and you need to re-shim to take up the clearance.
