I was wondering what would be better for the type of riding I do. I ride mostly on trails around a river so i'm constently crossing through fairly shallow water. I have read about problems with the air filters on both of these machines. I have also heard that they are not real water proof. I would just like some facts from people that own thses machines rather than magazines. Thanks

my 2001 Lakota has a tendancy to stall if i am doing some heavy duty splashing. i have had to replace the plastic screws (lost them) on the left side of the plastic over the air filter. haven't been back in water since i replaced these. so maybe the problem was because they were missing. other than that no problems at all. of course, i dont beat on it either.
