Default 2001 Bayou Speedometer Cable

I purchased a speedometer kit to fit a 2001 Kawasaki Bayou 300 2x4 (KLF300B14) and it came without directions. I have a diagram of the parts, but need to know where the cable end connects to the engine. All advice appreciated. Jim

Okay, I figured this out so I will answer it in order to assist someone else with the speedometer install. A Kawasaki Tech told me that installing the speedometer on the 2x4 Bayou 300 is "Painfully Simple"....

Right side of engine has a threaded hex-head plug about 6" to the right of the black slotted plug that is above the foot shift lever. Remove the hex-head plug (not the slotted plug) and insert the gear piece vertically straight down into the hole, seating it at the bottom. A small blob of wheel bearing grease can be used to hold the bottom flat washer in place on the shaft when inserting it into its position. The Speedo head mounts on the threaded tabs on the front rack above the left front fender and a hole has to be drilled in the fender to let the cable thru. A parts diagram can be found at:

Hope this helps! Jim
