Brute Force 650I VS Rincon 680
#2
These two atvs are ones that i will be looking at for when i purchase. Here is what i think. Mind you i have ridden both but only in corn fields.
Brute force- +Has way more power than rincon
+Diff Lock
+High and low range
+Price plus winch deal
+Good handling
+V-twin motor are very reliable
Rincon- +Smooth riding and great handling
+Doesnt have belt to worry about
+Honda
+Smooth power
+efi
So far, if i were to buy today i would get the brute force. Im into rough trail riding were a diff lock is needed. I also like the fun power the brute has. The rincon is no slouch but compared to a brute, there is a difference. The rincon i feel would be good for just regular trail riding but it doesnt have engine braking or some things i need for my rough riding adventures.

sTrings, Kawi has been making this machine in some format for a few years now. It will have more than enough power over the Honda. Honda does make a good machine, but for what your talking about doing, I'd lean towards the Kawi.
It started for me a few years back, I went into Honda/Kawi dealer. They talked me out of a 400 then and into a 360 Prairie. I know differnat machine, but fore a dealer to talk me out of the higher end machine, that told me something about Kawasaki's
Either way, you'll have a blast, so get one and get out there...

My 2 cents worth is the following:
POWER: Hands down the bf650. I can't remember exactally the HP number, but I believe the bf650 is 49hp while the rincon 680 is 42hp.
TORQUE: Again, hands down the bf650
4WD SYSTEM: Hands down the bf650 b/c you have the progressive front diff locker while the rincon680 has 3.5 wheel drive. I still don't understand why honda can't make a diff locker.
HANDLING: Both are very good, but the rincon 680 has the slight edge.
COMFORT: Again, both are comfortable, but the rincon 680 has the slight edge as well.
TRANNY: Both are good in their own aspect. The rincon 680 has the automotive style tranny and is simple. The bf650 uses a CVT belt system. Belts have been proven over the last 5 years to be extremely realiable. The rincon 680 doesn't have low range which is silly to me while the bf650 has low range. With that much power and low range, you can pull anything you need to and it really helps if you put extra large tires on.
TOWING: Hands down the bf650 b/c of the power AND having a low range.
REALIABLITY: Honda has been the bench mark for years, but over the past 5 years, everyone else has caught so this is really a wash.
PRICE: BF650 cost less and most kawie dealers will come off the MSRP some whereas most honda dealers won't.
CARB/EFI: The bf650 is carb while the rincon 680 is efi. The efi is much better with altitude & temperature changes, but if you are into deep mudding, the carb might be the way to go. I personally like efi after having one, but I don't do deep mudding with it like I do with my bf750 carb.
Bottom line, you can't go wrong with either and both are great fun quads, but my vote is the kawie bf650. Also, you can get a 4 year extended warranty with the bf650 and still be at the same price or slightly lower in price than the rincon 680.

Strings,
My brother in law owns a Honda dealership, so I've ridden them all. Honda is a very reliable machine, but Kawi has more power hands down. Not to mention as others have mentioned other options that the 680 doesn't have. One thing that I really don't like about the 680 is the three speed transmission. The 680 is absolutely useless in its automatic state (no power). The only way to ride this machine trail or not, is in manual. Keep that in mind!! Not to mention the 680 sounds like a lawn mower compared to the Brute V twin. BTW, my brother in law is doing about $3000 (you and my cost, not his) into his motor to try to keep up with me. Still not going to happen, but remember with having the dealership, he can't exactly go out and buy a V twin to run with me, it wouldn't look good to have a Honda dealership and ride another brand machine. Don't get me wrong, Honda is a good machine, but they're just a wee bit behind everyone else on technology.

Thanks for all the imput I already have a 360 Prairie and have been very happy with its reliability. After Hearing all of this I'm Going Brute Hands Down. I'm only 16 so It'll Have to wait until I save the money from my summer job.

I also have a 360 and it is very reliable and strong at the low end. However I find it feels a little top heavy and not as stable as I would like and, as a secondary issue, it is acknowledged that it is no speedster. So I have been thinking of the 650i. I assume the independent rear suspension would make it more stable and I have heard that they are not as top heavy --- or do not feel as top heavy. Also with so much more power you could comfortably push bigger tires and still have more speed and, hopefully, not hurt the bike.
So if a person were to get a 650i what options would warrant an immediate upgrade? I assume slightly wider tires --- I was thinking of 25 or 26 bear claws --- 12 in back and 10 in front. Would this make it a little more stable and what else might be done? One thing I am particularly cautious of with the 360 is the rear rack seems to hang out further than other bikes --- so when carrying a passenger up a steep hill I am very careful. Is the rear rack and therefore a passenger seat a little closer to being over the rear wheels with the 650i?
Thanks in advance for you patience with this but was particularly interested in feedback from folks that have experience with both the 360 and 650i as I am considering such a move myself.
