Sorry, I hope I wasn't being to nosey! I wasn't trying to pry it out ouf you, I was just wondering. You got a nice bike! Be carefull and don't tear it up too much because the parts are very hard to come by, a lot of parts you can't even get from the factory, including plastic! Have fun!

No problem your not being nosey just havent told gfriend that I bought another quad but doubt she will be on here so I guess its ok
BTW I also own a 400ex
Im curious as to what parts tend to break or wear and should be looked at on the tecate? Also would other Tecate owners be interested in starting a yahoo club or even and email list on egroups. Just curious as there are none there at the moment. My buddy and me will be setting up my page tomorow and will hopefully have it up by wendsday and ill post the URL

Thanks
JT

I know what you mean about the gfriend, I just got my 400ex 2 weeks ago, and now I'm on the hunt for a Tecate4, and if I find one like you did I will have two quads in the garage. (shhh, I won't tell if you don't). Here's what we'll do, I'll tell my gfriend the Tecate in my garage is yours, I'll say "dobeman ran out of room, so I told him he could keep it here", and you tell your gfriend the tecate in your garage is mine!LOL
Seriously, I know the kick starters go bad inside the case, but not to hard to fix. Have you tried to start yours yet? That's the only thing I hated on that bike was the way the kick starter came down by the peg, made my foot hurt.

Congratulations on your find, JT! I found a super clean '88 about 6 months ago, and paid more than double what you did. Good score! Yes, parts for Tecates are in short supply. I was able to purchase new (green) front fenders and the radiator cap cover for my '87 through the Kawi dealership, but all other pieces have been discontinued. I'll be in a world of hurt if I ever trash my good plastics!

Im thinking of taking off the tires and wheels hey they are the originals and buy an aftermarket set of douglas or ITP wheels and some razr or holeshot tires. Im also tempted to by some spare plastic off ebay<keep my eyes peeled> . I am also buying a fmf exhaust for the bike as it seems to be the only one available but im keeping all the stock parts so if i ever have to sell<yeah right there going to bury me with this quad LOL> ill have the originals.

Thanks
JT
