Default mud in the eye

a few times now, been out in some heavy mud and dirty areas. It seems if the mud and dirt packs in the front it build up on the radiator.
When this happens, I am not gettting cool enough with the riding we do. I get the blinking light on the dash and am afraid of over heating.

Anybody else having these issues? Anbydo come up with more protection for the radiator? Was thinking about some diamond mesh or something in front of the radiator grill, both front and back...

I have the same quad and never have had this problem? a screen of some sort in front of it would help I'm sure. but then again I don't go through mud that deep! lol

I've seen a few guys that have the brute force have a trail water pump that is used to wash out the radiator while riding to prevent the clogs..while the mud it still tangible. Maybe this will help?

This has happened to my Prairie several times. I finally realized that where there is mud, there is normally some cleaner water or a stream nearby. A quick blast through that and the radiator is clean again. If you let it dry, then it really sucks.

I would deff. try the wire mesh. I would do anything really solid over it just for air flow on it!

been checking out a lot of sites and getting info.

looks like for starters, synthetic oil and better coolant for starters. Keep it as clean as possible on the trail and allshould be well.

the synthetic oil shouldnt get as hot as reg. oil and the better coolant will keep heating levels down. I think carrying some water to clean it out on the trail is key too for those times when you just cant keep it out of the mud and dust. Lets fact it, thats kinda hard to do.
