HELP: 2003 Prairie 650 Started Smoking Heavily on trail.
#1
I was out trail riding on Sunday. I was doing about 40 MPH down a trail and let off the gas... My quad started running rough and when i looked behind me, there was so much smoke, I could see my brother who was riding about 50 feet behind me...
The quad kept running and there was no knocking... I feathered the gas a little and it started running great again and the smoke cleared up... So I kept riding...
About 10 mins later, the same thing happened... Again it cleared up on its own.
The smoke was definitely blue. So I know it must have been oil.
Any ideas on what is happening?

Open you air box, remove the filter and check for any engine oil residue. If any, clean up real good. Check you engine oil level and DRAIN if too high. Oil is being pushed up through the crankcase breather tube if the oil level is too high especially when climbing some steep hills. You may want to check spark plugs tips for any oil fouling contamination - clean or replace them.

I got it. It was over full with oil. I drained the oil and replaced it. Filled it to the proper fill level and haven't had a problem in about 3 hours of riding... Thanks for your help.
