Newbe to the board
Hello all 4-wheeler Buffs, I am Tim and have recently purchased a very used '98 Lakota 300,
personally I would have like to had a bit larger 4-wheeler but for the price of 500 bucks this one will do for now, the engine runs very strong and smooth although does seem to produce excessive oil smoke, the man I purchased it from said he thought it may need new Valve seals? Not sure!
the over all condition of the ATV cleaned up very good, plastic was not broken but did have many scratches, the 1st thing I did with the Lakota was took it all appart and washed it down once I got the
1/2 inch mudd accumulation off the engine and frame it looked even better, the original silver frame paint even shined up like new, although wasn't much I could do with the scratches on the plastic short of replacing them so I tried my hand at Camo painting it, and if I do say so myself it turned out rather good.
I used the Fusion camo paints, Bonds to plastic great! the Lakota has new rear tires but in dyer need of tires of front tires, this will be next.. BTW what is the limit of investment on a 4-wheeler of this age and condition? I think I can perform most of the service work myself and save on the labor, Although I am more experienced with the 2 stroke engine's ......about 8 years ago I had rebuilt a '89 Banshee, too mean for my old bones to heal if broken, so I sold it and bought a Golf cart. LOL ...
anyway! glad to be a part of the board and look forward to listening in on your topics, and will be chiming in myself from time to time..
