High Altitude Adjustment
#1
I have a 2001 Kawasaki Bayou 300 2x4 that has standard jetting which I understand is good from sea level to about 4000'. I plan to take the quad to the mountains for use at 8500'. Can someone advise temporary adjustments to get best performance at high altitude, or where do I find appropriate sized jets? All advice appreciated.
Thanks, Jim

Thanks for your input. I had phoned a powersports dealer in Santa Fe, NM and asked a service tech about high altitude adjustment. He told me to adjust the E-clip on the needle jet. I was really impressed with his knowledge since there doesn't appear to be an adjustable needle jet in the Bayou 300 Carb.

Where in NM are you planning to ride?
I live North of Santa Fe & always ride in the 7500 to 10,000ft elevations. Your stock jetting will work OK at 8500ft but w/a one size rejet it will run even better. More power, easier starts & better gas milage, do the rejet.

I ride in the Ruidoso and Cloudcroft areas of South Central NM. Can you tell me what size jet to use, and are you only talking about changing the main jet, or is there a kit? Where do you find the part(s), etc.? All advice appreciated.

I have no idea what jetting size you are running now. Any Kawie Dealer will have that info & can tell you what jet size you need.
I'd just go one step on the main jet, I've done this to all of my ATV's, including a '86 Suzy KQ, Cat 454/500 & the Prairie 650s & my last two BF750's.
