Bayou 300 Ignition Problems
#1
I am having what I think is ignition problems. My 2000 Bayou 300 seems to flood very easy when starting. At first I thought it was a carb problem but while testing the spart I noticed that there is no spark while the engine is turning over. When you let off of the ignition swith there is one spark. But only when you let off of the ignition switch. It has a new coil, plug wire, and plug. Any ideas? I dont know if it is the ignition box, or maybe the ignition switch. Any help would be appreciated.

It is the ignition box. I had a 2001 and these quads are famous for the ignition box going out. I replaced mine 2 times and even made the GM ignition module which worked great for about a year. I think my coil was going out and kept messing up the ignition box. This last time I replaced the coil along with the ignition box and VR. No problems since. There is alot of good info on the kawasaki forum website that I found all the info and even learned how to make the $20 GM ignition module which worked like a champ for awhile. I think it went bad because of the coil but not sure. I also found the ignition on ebay new for half the price. Anyways, good luck with it.
