Default Oil filter for a Mojave...

I have been looking and looking for an oil filter on my mojave and i can't find it and now i have come to believe that there isn't one. I know what they look like and i know where the oil filter should be on the atv but it simply doesn't have one. Am i right or is there and oil filter on my mojave??? If i am right should i get one even if it didn't come with one on, would it make the performance better if i got one?

The oil filter will filter any metal chips, dirt, or anything in the oil from getting into your engine. If a contamination in the oil enters your engine, the engine can become seriously damaged as dirt and steel chips were not made to lube the piston and the cylinder as well as the other engine components.

I believe it's on the opposite side of the kickstart (other side of the motor).

there will be a small circular plate held on by 3 bolts (bolts are set up in a rounded triangle pattern). This is where the oil filter is located. It fooled me for a while too! Some atv's have the filter on the outside of the motor like cars/trucks do, the Mojave does not. The KFX400 is set up the same way.

You will not gain HP by changing the oil filter, but it doesn't hurt to do it every so often.

Something to note: The mojave uses a paper element filter- not a canister type. That may be why it is a bit harder for you to find.

It's been a while. If I'm not mistaken, the oil filter cover is located on the right front of the engine cover. All internal oil filters are a pain to change. I have a V-Star street bike that I have to drop the exhaust before every filter change. The last Kawi internal filter I changed, I replaced with a reusable metal filter. I remeber it being around $50 though.

Good luck!

it is definately on the right side. It looks like it is just forward of your oil fill cap. check out http://fiche.ronayers.com/Inde...Group/Engine_Cover(s)

it would go where the 92055A "O" ring is (but from the outside of course) It will be held on by 2 screws (most likely 8mm). Let is know if this works. The Fram filter is CH6070 and the TUSK filter is TK-123.
