if you are going to drop the tire size from a 22 to a 20 then you may even want to go with a 14T front sprocket. I have a 14T front sprocket on my lakota (same frame and sprocket position as the mojave- even uses the same front sprocket, chain, and rear sprocket) and I have the stock chain on mine. The 13T front sprocket is readily available from rockymountainatv.com but the 14T you will have to get from sprocket specialists, cycle works racing, or some other vendor that will carry specialized sprockets. As far as dropping the rear tire size- a great move as long as you dont need the clearance. It will lower your center of gravity a little and give you a little better handling in the turns. Just fyi, when I first took off my front sprocket I had to use a pretty strong impact wrench to break the nut loose. Dont bother loosening your chain until you get that nut loose. I would leave it in gear with the rear brake on until you get that loose, then loosen your chain. Good luck.

i just invested in 20 inch tires, and was wondering how much of a difference that does for top end and bottem end. i dont need the top speed so thats y i did it. but im kicking my self becuase i had 200 bucks to spend this week on it and i choose hole shot tires instead of an exhaust or some performance option. do you think that was smart or dumb? also, i was wondering if you guys with lokotas or mojave have widened your ride in the front or rear or both, or found no need. bc next im debating on widening or getting an exhaust or something. thanks for the advice.

It's not hard to change a sprocket out. Like esonnen said: getting the sprocket bolt loose is probably the hardest thing to do. When you do that the sprocket should be loose and all you do is swap it out for the new one. To loosen the chain, you'll need to loosen the carriage bolts on the rear axle, insert the rod in your tool kit or a phillips head screw driver and rotate the axle in the direction that loosens the chain. It's been awhile since I've done this on ours so I forget which way it goes, but it's only one of two ways. Good luck.
