Default broken valve seat

I just got done tearing down my 1989 kawasaki 250 mojavie and discovered two of the valve seats were broken beyond repair , my question is can anyone direct me to a good atv salvage yard where I can get a used head ,( I already checked e-bay and theres not one on there right now) as a new head is around $500.00.

Is it just the seat? If so, just have a machine shop replace the seat.
Should be real easy. I've done hundreds, maybe thousands on airplane engines.

First, thank-you for your response, and there is a good size peice gone out of both exaust valve seats, if I could get them machined out that would be sweet . So you say that I can get them machined out even as deep as they are, do you have to build it back up first or is there some kind of insert or somthing that goes there? I'm going to the shop tuesday to see what they can do for me after talking to you, youv'e given me hope ,thank-you.

They have a million different seat sizes. Both on I.D. and depth. This is on a aluminum head right? The seat; correct? We use to weld a bead all the way around the seat to get it out of the head. When the bead cools it will shrink the seat and it will fall out of the head. Then most shops have cutters that clean up the hole. After the hole is cut, we would sub freeze the seat and heat the head to about 400 degrees or so. Then we just stab the seat in the hole and it locks up in about a 1/2 a second. Do a valve job and your done.

Any "good" machine shop should be able to take care of you and get you back on the trail again.
