Default 1996 Bayou 300 help

Ok i am new to ATV's but i am very mechanical so i bought a used 1996 Bayou KLF300 4x4. It was missing a few parts and i bought what i needed and the only thing i can not get it to do is run it turns over by pulling and using the starter motor. It has spark and it seems to have compression. When i say seems when i turn it over i see what appears maybe the compression leaking from the stator area. I have tried starting fluid and nothing happens. I have not yet torn apart the jug to see the rings but i am guesing new piston and rings and send the jug to a machine shop. any thoughts comment or suggestions? And no bringing it to a mechanic is not in the equation since i do not have a way to transport it and also the cost it would incure while at the shop would not be a good thing. Plus i like to tinker and get my hands dirty. Thanks in advance!

I'm not an ATV mech either, but I have a couple of thoughts.

1 - It has spark, good

2 - If it has spart & you supplied fuel (starter fluid) and it didn't light or even backfire etc. There may be electrical issue such as CDI (brain), or something else, either firing at the wrong time, or the spark plug isn't actually firing.

bad cdi..

if you are going to pull the jug, bore that baby out and put a wiseco in there, open up the air intake, nice filter.
and i think there are nice full exhausts for it too, you could have a screaming bayou

I just removed the jug and WOW ya i need to bore the jug and get new piston and rings. This quad sat for awhile as the rust on the top of the piston and jug and you can see the rings were bad. Plus to add a little spice there was mouse remains in it. So my early Christmas list is a new cdi and jug bored and new pistons lol.
