By todays standards the KFX 700 is a 2wd utility (very heavy) not to say its a bad quad but there deff better choices out there. Of the 2 you have listed the 450 would deff be the sportier of the the 2 but I would still not make it my first choice, as of to date the Raptor 700R is the best allaround quad made next inline would be the KTM 525 then the Polaris outlaw 525. All three will run circles around the KFX700 esp in the handling dept. The other thing about the KFX700 it is an auto and the other 3 are all 5speeds with reverse.

Heck I would even go with the Can-Am Outlander 800 before the KFX and it will even have 4 wheel dr. and weigh only 50lbs more!

The KFX700 is not really a sport type quad....Yes it has the looks but it is more like a utility on steroids type quad!! I love mine and it does well on trails and anywhere I ride. It has great ground clearance and it is a wheelie machine!!! Good overall power that can be really beefed up to more impressive power. Dont get too hung up on the ones who complain about the ergonomics of the bike, most who complain about that dont own one so I dont get it!! I'm a bigger rider who enjoys the heavier quad (6-1, 245lbs. ). Yes a 450 class bike is a better moto crosser than the big KFX but you have to be careful when comparing the two because they are two different bikes...totally!! Would I want to ride the KFX on a moto track and do that style of riding with it??......NO!! but then again as Clint Eastwood would say.."A mans got to know his limitations". If this bike fits the style you want then test ride one and judge for yourself. Dont get too hung up on opinions cause you know in the end your the one riding it! If you want a big cc moto-cross type quad then the rappy 700 or the Ktm is a good way to go, like Hemi said, but you need to know what type of quad you prefer.Good luck in your choice and enjoy whatever you get! Oh... by the way, the Renegade is a hell of a bike but it is almost 3000 dollars more!!! so thats something to look at as well!!

If you are a smaller guy (like under 250) I would stay away from the KFX700....... unless you cannot live with a manual trans the KFX450 is a vastly better sport machine.

As the others above have said, the 700 is big and heavy, and handles like a Ute..... not a bad thing if you want that. But if you are looking for a pure sporty ride the 450 is a much better choice. And of all the 450s the KFX is the most trail friendly with reverse and a nice low end push.

The KFX700 is kind of a special group machine..... my Father loves his, and most people who own them seem to. But they have limited appeal with their CVT trans and large size, shaft drive and low end grunt. A lot of guys would rather have a 4x4 if they are going to have something that big and heavy.

The two are so different that I would suggest trying to get some seat time to see if you like the 700 at all......

I have tested a couple of quads and was almost set on the predator 500. Then I went for a drive on the kfx 700 and fell in love. If you want a bike that wheelies easy and a great trail bike then the kfx is perfect. The low end grunt of the v-twin motor is amazing and the sound of the dual exhaust is music to my ears. As far as size, I am 6'0 and 165 pounds and have no problem at all handling the bike. The aftermarket parts for the bike are almost unlimited. I have even seen big bore kits as large as 900cc and the tranny has no problem handling it. Check out some kfx vids on utube. You can't go by other opinions, because everbody will give you mixed reviews. You just have to test the quads for yourself.

if your new to the sport would you consider a 400? i had a kfx 400 and it was a great all around bike. i used it for climbing, jumping, trails pretty much everything. my brother had a honda 450 and i could do everything he could. very good power throught out and could wheelie in 5th gear pretty easy. just an option to save you a little money. hope this helps

Who says you can't MX the KFX700??? Ha-Ha.

I have MX'ed, cross country, dragged, pulled and flat tracked my KFX700... And while it's not the greatest at it, it does all of them pretty well and it's #1 for fun factor. The other perk is when it's tired and time for a new machine. You have a V-twin engine there that you can rebuild into a monster. Some are pulling hundreds of HP using turbos, nitrous and superchargers. Like to see someone try that with a single cylinder machine.
