alright i have a 1999(i think) bayou 250 thats about ready for a new top end this winter and im wondering what are the majow differences between the 2. im finding alot more stuff on the 220 and havnt seen really anything baout the 250's. i.e. will the bayou 220 pistons and gasket sets work in a 250 or if the carb kits are the same.

 

They are pretty much the same except the 250 has a little bigger bore! The front bumper is also a little different. Everything except some engine internals are the same.

 

doyou know what partswont fit from the engine? also anyone that makes over sized pistonsand rings too.

There was no Bayou 250 in 1999. The 250 came out as 2003 model year. BTW, it has only 13 more cc than the 220. Everything will fit except the piston, rings & cyl.

 

hmm than i guess its a 250, ill have to check the vin's and see what exact model it is. anyways, does anyone know who makes an oversized piston for it?

 

Kawasaki and Wiseco for sure. There are some other brands that I've seen on ebay too.

If it's a 99, it's definitely a 220. There was also minor wiring differences and also some related differences in wiring components through the years, but 95% of all Bayou 220/250 parts are identical from '88 'til now. Go to www.buykawasaki.com and you can look at each individual part to see what is the same and what is different.

 

alright ill haveto check that out, i would rather find a place where i can order all of the parts i need in one big order so i dont have to pay alot more for shipping. my quad could be a 2003 because it does have 250 decals and all but i just thought it was a little older

 

Get the VIN off of the frame and plug it into www.buykawasaki.com and it will tell you what year it is and about any recall info, warranty info, etc.
