Default bf 650 coolant low

I have noticed that my coolant level is now at the bottom mark in the coolant bottle. I remember that it was once at least 3/4 up the bottle and it concerns me that I may have trouble. I do remember smellig coolant and that the fan was on at the time. Could there be a vent for the coolant if there is overheating? I dont know much about bikes coolant system and figured I ask you guys if you had the same problem before I take stuff apart. ps- Bike is an 05 with 5500kms and used primarly for work purposes and rarely opened out on throttle. Also the coolant is original. Thanks- Ren

I'm thinking your rad has mud in it. the smell of coolant came from the overflow. If you are in a warm climate you can add additives to your coolant to make it more effective at slower speeds. Add coolant to your reserve. check coolant when the bike is cold in the theromstat.
