Question '08 Brute Electrical Issue -please help

Hi guys,

I have an 08 Brute Force 750 with 13 hrs/150 miles on it. Tonight, after riding for a bit, I went to put it away and had a strange occurence. I turned on the key, the display came on and the belt tensioner started to sound -all as normal - for about half a second, then everything went off.

At first, I thought I may have blown a fuse, but didn't understand how because I had done nothing but a little flat, dry running in my back yard. Got out the circuit tester to start checking fuses, etc... and as I was messing around, everything started up again.

I put it away and kind of shrugged it off. A few minutes later, I decided I needed it again so I went to start it - Nothing! I pull off the seat and start poking around again. When press on the plastic cover over the battery, everything comes on again! Rode for a few minutes, then hit the kill switch but did not turn off the key. After a few minutes, I lost all power again. Took the seat off, pressed on the battery cover and, bingo, I had power again.

So I figure I have a loose or broken wire under the battery cover. I also figure it is on the hot side, as when I was getting power, I tested the fuses with the ground of the tester on the negative terminal on the battery and was getting no juice. I figure if it was a ground wire, then I would have seen power at the fuses when I grounded to the battery, right?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I know I am still under warranty, but I don't want to have to drag it back to the dealer if I don't have to...

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance!

Sounds like just a loose battery terminal.

I think you are right. I pulled the battery cover and checked the positive terminal connection. The screw was loose. So, I tightened that and checked the negative terminal as well.

We'll see if it happens again. If not, then problem solved!

Thanks!
