Question about wheel sizes for the Mojave
#1
I ran into a great deal on a set of skat-trak paddle tires the other day for only $50. They are mounted on Douglas .125 rims. The only problem is that the wheels are 8". Am I stuck with the 10" wheels or can I go down to an 8"? I have no idea what my options are as far as wheels go so I'm looking for some advice from my fellow Mojave owners.
My buddies and I are heading to Waynoka, Oklahoma for the Rattlesnake roundup weekend on April 19 thru the 21st so I'm needing to get some paddles and I figured if I could make those work it might save me a buck or 2. If this doesn't work out I have found Sand devils in Dirt wheels at a place called Recreation tires for $145 mounted on Douglas .125. Any of you guys ever ourchased from them?

your stuck with 10 in , ive been through this with my mojave and lakota.
i tried to order sand sharks through them for three weeks straight and they never had any in stock. so you better give them a call before you count on them having them and wait till the last minit to order. if i recall correctly i bought a new 10" red lable set and a used 10" red lable set off an older style banshee and drilled the holes out 1mm bigger and they fit great. i guess older banshees had a different bolt-up, maybe the ones with j-arms.
good luck and have a great time!

This is what I've found out researching into swiching out my rear 10" rims for 8" on my Mojave. 8" won't fit because the hubs are too big. 4 on 156mm bolt pattern if I remember correctly. 9" rims look like they will fit but I havn't checked into avalibility on them. To fit 8" rims you will have to switch out hubs to some with a smaller bolt pattern. This will add considerable cost to the swap.
A couple of years ago I swapped out my stock 9" wheels on my 250X for 8". I ordered the Douglas red label rims from James Lucky and didn't have any problems. The Honda bolt pattern was small enough to leave enough clearence to swap to the 8" wheels.

Thanks for the input guys! I ordered my wheels and tire today from Recreation Tires. I ordered a pair of GBC Sand Sharks 20/11/10 and had them mount the on Douglas red lable .190 aluminum wheels. I tried to order them from Rocky Mountain ATV but they are out of stock and weren't sure when they would be getting more in. $190.23 was the grand total shipe to my front door. MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper than I could have gotten them at any of the local shops.
