Bought a raptor today. It is black and white, can't wait to ride it.The dealer said it would be here the first of march.Longhorn Powersports in Weatherford TX. is the dealer. They only wanted to give me 2000. for the 1999 Lakota.Told him i would park it in the garage before i would let him have it. I do plan on selling it though, just did not want to pay list price plus on the raptor and turn around and let him make another 750+ on the Lakota. I hope Kaw. does not come out with a new sport quad for a couple years now since i bought the Raptor.3 kawaski quads,3 years only 1 problem. The choke lever broke on the pairrie 300. It cost 5.00 dollars...I will get the extended warranty on the RAPTOR.

Way to go 14.! Keep us posted, as I know you will. lol Hope we don't lose you to the Yamaha forum now. I still contemplate on changing cams on my Lakota, but can't determine if it is worth the money. Oh well, another issue. Kick@$$ 14. Really cool machine.

Stebob-I still plan on sticking around on the Kawaski forum. While i was at the Yamaha dealer today i saw a used warrior(1998) with FMF pipe.Ask the dealer if i could ride it while they were looking at my quad. He let me. 1st off i have never ridden one. This one might have been thru the wringer,i don't know. With the warrior being a manual, i know it would take my lakota off the line, but i don't it could run off and leave it.I like the ride of the lakota better, along with the fit and finish of my machine.I had planned on buying a warrior in 1999 but the dealer was a turd.So i ended up the Lakota.I wish that i had been able to have found a 10-1 piston for the lakota. If i had i probably would not have bought the Raptor.I will probably be the only old guy on a raptor that does not ever get more than 2 feet of air. Anyway Stebob if you have read this far have you ever gotten a gps reading on your Lakota?

No I haven't 14. I have no idea how fast it will top out. To be honest though, where we ride you will not top out. Maybe in the dunes you will be WFO but sand will slow you down. I ride dunes, tight trails, hill climbs, and mud. My buddy rides a 400EX and believe it or not he can't lose me on the tight trails, I am right beside him in the dunes, and there are places I can go he can't. I have a lot more low end torque than the 400EX. To be honest I don't care for that machince much except for the straight line speed on hard pack and how easy to ride a wheelie. Raptor is awesome though, but I haven't riden one. I think you made the right choice.

stebob-A friend brought 2 of his raptors to my house today,we rode for a little while.I rode the raptor for about 1/4 mile never got out of 2nd gear. Can't wait to get mine.I belive that you are correct in saying the 400 can't run off and embaress the Lakota. That is 1 reason i bought the lakota in the 1st place. Those raptors are wicked, wicked, wicked. The raptor was the only quad that i felt was a dramatic step up from the Lakota.I think all the sport quads are superior to the Lakota in performance, but not in the bang for the buck contest. For the way that i ride i did not want to buy a new quad that would only go a few mph faster than what i have for 1500. dollars or more.I think Kawaski is way underrated. Will always be a kawi fan. I really like the post in this forum the best of all.Once the new 650 p comes out things should be on the upswing for kawi. With my luck they will probably have a 500 Lakota or mojo next year.

Yeah 14. that Raptor is a bad ****. Have not yet ridden one but I've seen what they can do. I hope Kawi brings out a nice sport quad. Different than the Lakota's or Mojo's. New longer, lighter frame and swingare. Hard to beat the Raptor though. If I were to buy a new machine it would be a Raptor. Can't wait to hear how it runs for you. BTW I have a new post about clutch problem. Would you mind reading that and see if you have any input?
