Default Getting broken ATV in truck

OK
I want to hear some ideas on how to get a downed ATV back into the truck if you are out on the trail. Mine is about 600lbs which is impossible to push up the ramp....Anyone have experience?

Thanks

Thats one of the reasons I have a 3000lb winch on the front of my trx300, and I also run a spare battery. Thank goodness for the old honda, so far I have not had to use it yet for such a non-glamorous purpose.

Take care,
Max

What is in the back of your truck that you anchor it to? My problem is in my Tundra I am not certain that the corner brackets are strong enough.

Not sure about Toyota, but most trucks tie down loops are rated at 500 lb or so. You should be able to check with the dealer to see if they have a rating for yours. A rolling load should not tax the loops real bad.

Hmmmm....4 Gorillas!! Just kidding. If your are looking for a cheap backup system just in case of a breakdown, get yourself a good 4-5 ton come-along to wench it up your ramps into the truck.

The Wyeth-Scott Co. Established 1906 This is a heavy duty winch for those who don't want the added weight on the quad itself. If you run a chain between the tie downs in the front of the box you will be splitting the strain in half rather than pulling on just one. They should be more than strong enough.

Default What about finding a ditch or depression to back

the truck into to flatten out the loading angle on your ramps? I wouldn't spend money on a winch, come-along, heavy anchor points, etc. for something that should be a VERY rare need that can be handled using common sense.

I never ride alone, either another ATV pushes it up the ramps or 3 guys push it up the ramp, How did you get the broken ATV back to the truck after all?

I've been there before, I can push my bike it's at minimum 600lbs running start always work, but then - again I way 304lbs, and Bench Press 575lbs. There are times that I may be too tired to do it myself sometime you have to count on your neighbor around the way, they will help it's the way of the offroaders. Hopefully knowone got hurt, and your bike is up rolling again, so that you can get back offroading. Good luck dude.

I kind of agree that I would not get a winch just for rare chance of having to load up a downed quad onto back of the truck. I'd rather spend time and moeny to keep my quad in a good running condition and use common sense while riding so I don't get into such situation. But I know things happen...
