Engine smoking
#1
I was wondering if anyone could give me any ideas why my 1981 klt 200 is smoking when you rev it. It looks like a blue/grey smoke most of the time. It is not a fog of smoke but if you run it in the shop, after a few min. you can see it in the air. It has good compression 150psi. The sparkplug doesn't look gunked up or oil covered. I adjusted the valves to spec and cleaned carb again. Is there any additive that I could put in it to stop it from smoking? Will it hurt if I just run it that way? Thanks, Preston

with it being that old if it isnt seals. the valve guids could be worn. but either way keep oil in it it should be fine until it gets worse. then time for top end rebuild which is pretty cheap to do.if you have a compression tester with a quick diconnect on it you can close both valves and put pressure in spark plug hole. remove the valve springs and put new seals on. just keep compression on the cylinder until springs r back on so you dont drop a valve.
