Unhappy Lost Key

My son has lost the key to his 2006 Bayou 250. Is there any way to get a replacement key or will I need to buy another ignition switch? Any short cuts?

you'll have to get a new ignition... but i have heard some kind of rumor that every other key is the same for motorcycles and atv's, but i dont know if that's true or not, best thing to do is go into your local kawasaki dealer and talk to them about it...

If you have even a halfway decent locksmith you can take the ignition switch to them and they can make you a key.....Ive had to do it before. I have no idea what an ignition switch cost so you may want to price the work before they do it......my locksmith charged me $20 to do it....which was FAR cheaper than a new ignition switch for my motorcycle.

When i had my bayou the switch quit working. They wanted big bucks @ the dealer for a factory switch. Ended up going to a junk yard and getting an igntion switch & key out of an old Volkswagon. Perfect fit in the hole and only 10$.

Not ture on today's bikes, quads, etc. I have 3 similar Kawi quads like BF, Praire but their keys don't fit on each other. They only look similar.

3 solutions:
1. Pay big $$ and get a new set from a dealer.
2. Trip to a Radio-Shack for switches and do your own mod. But quad can be easily stolen.
3. Find used parts from quad salvage yard or eBay.
