yeah i dont think just cranking it over with water in the cylinder would do much damage due to deadheading because the starter does not have that much torque and i think your pull cord would break before you could pull it hard enough to bend a connecting rod or damage a valve, in my exerience its always been water in the carb that was a bitch to get out but i could be wrong, glad it worked out
