Lakota 300 sputtering at high speeds
#1
I have a 96 Lakota 300 that had the carb fixed last summer. This summer it starts up and idles fine but after about 5 minutes of riding it starts to sputter, backfire and feels sluggish losing its power. This does not go away unless I let it go back to idle for a few minutes and then it starts over again. Any ideas of whats causing this and what can be done to fix it? Thanks!

Sounds like a carb related issue, either too lean or too rich. To find out, after hi speed riding, pull out the plug and read the color. Another way to find out is to run the bike with air box lid open. If quad runs better, it's too rich. If it runs worse, it's too lean.
