Wincycles KTX300 Carb for KLF300?
#1
Wincycles.com sells what appears to be a Chinese copy of a Honda KTX300 carburetor as a replacement on a Kawasaki Bayou 300 KLF300. They claim minor modifications are necessary, but I can't get thru to Wincycles to get specific directions. Anyone have experience and instructions that would help with this? Do these carbs work or is this another scam?

If you bought one of the Wincycle (or similar) replacement carbs for the Kawasaki Bayou 300 and can't get thru to wincycles on their phone: 800-768-6708, try sending them an email thru the EBay site. They will phone you back withing a day or two.
The replacement carb is designed for a Honda TRX300. The Throttle Cable from the Bayou is too large to fit the threaded carb body opening. The hole must be drilled out to accept the Bayou cable end. The choke hole on the carb is too large for the Bayou choke's threaded cap. Remove the Bayou choke cable's threaded nut, plunger and spring from end of Bayou cable and replace it with the nut and parts that are contained inside the carb choke hole. The carb nut must then be adapted (bored out) slightly to accept the Bayou cable sheath (somewhat tricky). Once the changes are made, the Bayou choke will thread into the new carb body.
With the new carb installed, the Bayou starts instantly....great, but any pressure on the throttle causes the motor to die. I can keep the motor running only by applying some choke at the same time I press the throttle. Throttle sounds like it is bogging down as if being starved. I'm still working on this and will post an update in the near future.
If anyone has experience with a motor that starts and idles, but will not throttle up, I could use your advice.
Thanks, Jim

After replacing a leaking manifold and a little tweaking, I am up and running. Any carb will only work if all other motor issues are resolved. Alex walked me thru the troubleshooting process and provided Great Customer Service. He even did follow-ups to assure the carb was working properly. IF YOU HAVE BASIC ATV MECHANICAL SKILLS, THIS CARB WILL WORK FOR YOU! THANKS, ALEX, FOR YOUR HELP AND PATIENCE!
