Acceleration Problem on 2000 Prairie
#1
Hey guys,
I have a 2000 Kawasaki Prairie and having an acceleration problem. The quad wont go any faster than 23 mph. I am thinking it may be a carb issue but not certain. Any pointers on where to look would be great.

I have a 05 and 09 Prairie and have learned through experience to suspect the plug and then the carb. Not sure how familiar you are with carbs but I can attest that they are quite easy to take apart, clean and put back together. I just resolved a bogging and bucking KX 85 dit bike problem by simply removing the float bowl and blowing compressed air through the main jet - you could see that it was almost completely clogged. I also just happened to repair a flooding Yamaha Grizzly 125, this time it was the float valve that required cleaning. Lastly, I repaired a "hard to start" 05 Prairie by adjusting and lubing the throttle cable.
Bottom line - it doesn't cost much, it's easy to do and it can't hurt - so why not start with the simple stuff.
btw - I usually start by getting a diagram of the carb parts from my local dealer's website.
