Like you i've never owned a Kawasaki my brother's first quad was a 1988 or 89' Bayou 300 2x4 but it had the manual tranny , if you go to youtube and type in a search on replacing the drive belt you'll find a video of someone changing the belt's ; there's one that show's step by step instruction on replacing a belt on a popo he show's how to check the primary and secondary clutch's as well as the belt replacement !

From what he talk's about it being a simple proceedjure and that it's prettymuch the same with other brand's , or you can search for the Kawasaki belt replacement they have video's covering all brand's you just do a search with the quad you're working on ; the guy that does the popo even has a home made puller that make's easy to pull the clutch's.

There could be belt debri that's causing the problem , and even the clutch spring's could need changing to a stiffer spring ; but what the case maybe this should be of some help at least i hope it does !

How would you check the clutch alignment? My cousin has 07 650 (granted, it has a 2" lift and 30" silverbacks), and he is blowing belts almost every 3rd ride. The guy he got it from said that it had a clutch kit (it has different color springs inside). It will get up and ride a wheelie even with those 30" tires, so it has good power, but he is blowing belts all the time. He even bought the $125 Extreme Duty Belt and it is still blowing it.

Not sure but think the stealership was selling me the wrong belt. It was an aftermarket model and when it went both times it ripped the top off the belt in a few spots just so happens it was the area with the # on it. I put a Kawasaki belt on and has been good to go so far!!!
