Default Overheating

There should be an indicator light, the fan (hopefully) will try to run, and antifreeze will blow out of the overflow tube.

Well none of those happened. I'm trying to figure out what happened yesterday. My atv lost power for about five minutes. It would go and slow down, go and slow down. So I drove it slow for a while, then it was back to normal. I thought maybe overheating.

So the overheating indicator light finally went on yesterday while I was riding. Could it be due to the type of oil I used? Castrol GTX 10W-40.

Did the overheat happen right after you started using that engine oil?

How would you explain the overheating indicator light coming on issue?

It did happen after I started using the oil. But I believe I used the same viscosity of oil last summer, just a different brand.

Gas tank, lines and the carb have all been cleaned out, and fresh gas put in.
