Default Brand New Brute Force Oil Leak

Ok so yes I know this brute is under warrenty, but if I could fix it myself that would be better.

So I noticed a puddle under my brute force and I have narrowed it down to around a sensor that bolts into the lower part of the engine on the right side.

The sensor is circled below

What is that sensor used for? It looks like a single 8mm bolt holds it in. Can I drain the oil remove the sensor then reseat it with a new oring or similar?

Thanks

Dave

Yes. You know what you are doing!
It is a hall-effect speedo sensor. There is an O-ring at the end ouf the sensor that goes into the crankcase. If the O-ring is not cut/damaged, you can reuse it. Also, look for crack in the speedo sensor's plastic body. If all looks good, clean up any oil residue and apply thin layer of silicone sealant to prevent future leak (normally not needed). Yes, you should drain the ine oil before removing the sensor unless you want to drain the oil from the sensor hole. Another tip is to tilt the quad to the left so that engine oil draining might not be needed.

Just pulled the sensor out tonight. Apparently no one at the factory realized that the oring was cut in half. yes that's correct. There was only half an Oring there. Replaced it and no more oil leak. Glad it was simple
