Default Hello again and I have a question one what bike?

So I might be selling my '01 Polaris Xplorer 400. I didn't plan on it but I was offered a good amount so I if he comes back with the cash it's gone. My question is what's a good bike to replace it with? Today I looked at a '06 Suzuki King Quad 700 that looked good. Came with a new cycle country composite plow. The price is right at $4600 but the bike wouldn't stay running if he disconnected the jumpbox (jump starter thing you normally see used on car lots to jump cars). I've never seen this before. He said it just needed a new battery (first thought was why not put one in there???) and it'll run just fine. Its got about 800 miles and 220 hours on it. Everything else looked good with exception of one bracket that holds the radiator was bent a little. Everything else looked good and it doesn't appear to be rolled.

Are these Kingquads riddled with electrical issues? Is he correct that the bike doesn't have enough power to run if the battery is dead? I've always seen EFI stuff run fine once started. I'm very good electrically so it doesn't really worry me too much but want to know what I am getting into.

Do you guys recomend something else??? I'd love to get a bike with efi and power steering because it will mainly be used for plowing but doubt I can find something around $4500 or less.

The 2006 Kingquad has EFI engine and it will NOT run w/o battery.

I'm not sure if that quad is known to have lots of electrical problems. Ask in Suzuki section.

With aggressive mud tires, this quad has enough low end to push snow.

Other EFI quad that I recommend is 2008+ Kawi Brute Force 750 which has EFI V-twin. I have this one and it is a workhorse. You should be able to get one within your budget.

I would not be looking to buy an atv that won't stay running. He should've fixed that issue before you even came to see it- especially if it's only a "battery" and with a price of $4600!!! Why would anyone drop almost $5k on an atv that won't stay running during the initial inspection I would've walked away as soon as I saw the jumper box!

FWIW- I had an 05 KQ700 with just ove 900 miles on it and it did have electrical issues (known common electrical issues) charging and cranking, even after I replaced the battery and confirmed proper charging voltage... and it still left me stranded about 20 miles down trail from the truck when after riding for a couple hours straight it would not start back up- and the pull starter also wouldn't start it.

I sold it that week.
