Hello,I just got my first ATV and I got a very good deal on it,BUT I have one small problem.When I use the electric starter to start it,as soon as I let off the starter button it ceases to run.Now if I use the pull starter it starts and runs like a top.I have done some troubleshooting,when I disconnect the plug on the starter relay and jump across the main terminals, the starter works and it starts and runs fine,but if I reconnect the the plug to the starter relay the engine dies.I know there is a starter circuit relay and It seems to be working properly [makes a clicking sound when starter button is pushed] Any suggestions would be helpful,Thank you Spankey

 

Check the black ground wire coming out of the starter relay. See where that goes to the engine block. Make sure the contact at the engine is clean/good.

 

Hayashi,Thank you for your help.I did as you suggested and that checked out good-But I did find the problem,believe it or not it was the battery. Even though I had the battery on a charger [I use this charger to start my caterpillar dozer when needed] and still did the same thing,so I decided to do a load test on the battery, the battery was toast,I replaced the battery and charged it,put in the bike and it fired up no problem and ran perfectly.So that was the problem but I do want to thank you for your help.Thanks Again Sometimes it's the simplest things Daaa Spankey
