sputter and popping through the carb & airbox are common issues with the 05 / 06 - there's a TSB for the carb jets. Both my 05 & 06 bf did it. Dealers would either replace the jets or shim them out... Also, check the buss connection above the gas tank- a lot of people with 05 & 06 have had issues with corrosion and bad connection at that point (I know it sucks getting to the top of the gas tank ) you may have to cut out the buss connector and solder the wires together and shrink wrap...

You can also try going from the 750 stock jet (38) to a 40 jet- which were stock in the bf 650's - part # N424-74C which is the #40 jet.

The main jet controls 3/4 to full throttle-
the needle and needle jet kicks in about 1/8 to 3/4 throttle
and the pilot jet and pilot screw kick in from idle to 1/8 throttle...

also worth mentioning are the valves-
05 & 06 bf 750's were known for tight valve issues- check to see how tight they are.

The 05 & 06 bf 750 motors were pretty buggy- there's a ton of info out there on them because many people experienced the same issues. Try searching google also- Hope that helps a bit
