Kawasaki Bayou 300-What is this??
#1
I just bought a Kawasaki Bayou 300 4 wheeler. It's missing some parts and I would like some help to figure out if I need those missing parts or not. Ha ha.
There is a broken white round piece on the handle bars that has a cable going down to the tranny. I'm assuming this is a safety switch?? Can anyone help?
Also when I hit the shifting lever with my foot, the cable doesn't move. Is this related to the broken piece on the handle bars?
Thanks for the help!

It sounds to me like you are describing the reverse cable setup. There is supposed to be a twist **** on the white piece you are seeing I believe. That pulls the cable which pulls a lever on the transmission. When that lever is pulled, it can be kicked down from neutral into reverse.

Thanks for the reply! From what you are describing, it makes me wonder if the switch is in the reverse position since I can only shift up one gear or down one gear. It doesn't seem to click in when I go through the gears. Could that be why?
