So someone wants to trade me this for one of my toys, Guy said it needs a inline fuse or a cdi box, ran a month ago went on it one day and he had no power to the ignition or the neutral light, should I be weary or no? the quad looks very clean, may be a quick fix and a better toy or it may be a basket case fist flying headache, I hear these quads are good, but I am a trike guy. always wanted to go to the darkside. anyway, said he put news rings and gaskets in it and an entire upper gasket kit. give me some pointers guys. is this a go or no go??

If HE put new rings, gaskets in it, then I'd think he would be able to try a new fuse to see if that is the problem. I'm kinda questioning the new ring thing, because if it were me, on a machine this old, if I had it torn down to the point where I could put new rings on, I'd sure go ahead and replace the piston and probably have the cylinder honed if it is honable. I'm not sure honeable is a word, but you know what I mean. I probably would have had the valves done too.
Tell him to get it running then you'll talk.

These are pretty solid quads from what I remember, but only you can decide if the trade is worth it. Personally, if I can't at least hear it run the value goes wayyyy down. You just never know what else is wrong with it. I also agree with Mr.Summit. A piston and cylinder freshening should only add another $200.00 or so. Small price if you already have it torn down for new rings.
